REPORT ON PRACTICAL MACHINE LEARNING CLASS 21/03/2020.

The week 3 class of our practical machine learning course PHCSoAI which held on March 21,2020 was a feature-rich session, which included talks, games, quizzes, and workshop sessions. Our day at the class, started with a quick introduction and welcome address from the class facilitator(Mr. Stephen Oladele); Members of the class were given the opportunity to introduce themselves to the rest of the class, and interact briefly.

Things got rolling very quickly soon as the class kicked off as members of the class were assigned week-roles, and were split into study groups in pairs. Being a very interactive class as always, teams were tasked with identifying challenges team members had previously encountered in similar classes or workshop training sessions. Several members pinpointed weak or almost no hands-on practical sessions during workshop and even school sessions; As most members are fresh college graduates,or active college students who attend seminars and workshops regularly. And were really anticipating things being very different in the class with the right blend of interactive sessions, and practical hands-on workshops.

Mr Stephen, next introduced the class instructor for the day(Mr.Boma S.George). Together with all the members of the class, the instructor reviewed WEEK 1's class project assessment, and had a fifteen minute AMA session over the lessons sent on Week 2's class. Project assessment review for Week 2 were also conducted, as class members shared experiences of their various challenges while working on the projects and how they overcame these challenges.

Week 3's class was not just talks and workshops. We had intermittent breaks, as well as a very fun quiz and game sessions, as to which Miss Omorukkie conquered all in to emerge winner, and be crowned MEMBER OF THE MONTH. The class instructor then walked us through the installation and use of the matplotlib library to visualize data. This was a truly indulging hands-on session as students and instructor alike got to work on recent COVID-19 data set, performing various data visualizations, and gaining different insights in the novel virus, through the available data-set we were working with; sourced from Kaggle. Same was done on a titanic data-set. Afterwards, the class instructor, held a brief reverse-AMA to aid the class cover-up on any shortcomings from the days workshop. Class assessment projects were handed out afterwards, and a study group from the class, came forward to give a rundown summary of the days events.
